Wicked is the untold story of the wicked witch of the west.
The play starts with bubbles, just bubbles. Then of course the good witch appears inside the bubble...
This may seam childish and full of potholes but Wicked will keep you on your toes! With puns and humorous riddles, it constantly links back to the Wizard of Oz and the book 'The grimmerie'
The costumes were un-rivavled, capturing the essence of the theme each character was portrayed by their dress especially the ensemble (who you knew there were so many shades of green?!) the lightning was by far the best as it was quick and add atmosphere and texture to the storyline. Glinda (lucy Durak) was perfectly suited not only did she reprise the role in 2008 but she added a new dimension to her seemly shallow character. And Elphaba (Jemma Rix) was powerful and fierce, with a few solemn moments . Rix delivered her character with finese and colour. I enjoyed seeing Wicked as it filled in so many potholes from the film starring Judy Garland. It was powerful and inspiring, the songs were uplifting and set the scene and it was just like you had left reality. (Rating: 8/10)
Starring: Lucy Durak, Jemma Rix, Maggie Kirkpatrick, Reg Livemore...
Directed by: Joe Mantello
