The Crucible is a 1953 play written by Arthur Millar, dramatizing the Salem Witch trials taken place in Massachusetts Bay during 1692 and 1693.
That is basically all you need to know prior to the play, recently shown in London with a well known cast, the crucible is fast and has a quick story line. It may seem that the charcter 'John Proctor' doesn't appear to be important and the audience will indefinetly miss judge his type of character given act 1. That is unless you have already read the play.
It is breathtaking the amount of characters that the small cast had to bring alive and must be applauded for the characters seemed so real and their feeling seemed real as well. Special commendation must go to british actor Richard Armitage who played his charcter of John Proctor with ease but still managed to uncover the challenges within his tough personality.
A very good and solid performance.
